Might not help, but I had issues with an upgrade to 2.02 as well. After I uploaded the new files the second time, the issue went away.

Also, make sure that you're not uploading ascii files in the binary mode. That can sometimes mess things up.

It sounds like your host has PHP setup with a sessions folder that isn't writable.

Can you let your host know you're getting an error and ask them if they can fix the default session.save_path setting so it works?

And if you continue to have issues feel free to email me direct at dave@interactivetools.com and I'll figure out a temporary patch or workaround for you while they're getting it fixed.
