Our hosting provider is upgrading their servers from PHP verion 5.2 to PHP version 5.3. We have around 20 sites using various versions of CMS Builder, Article Manager, and even a couple using Page Publisher (really old I know). I am concerned that these sites might break.

Can you please let me know what older/legacy versions of the software mentioned may be affected, and how we can avoid this?

Our client has asked about backup and spellcheck features, and I noticed that in version 1.36 both these features are listed.

Before we upgrade them to this version, can you please let me if know if these two features work as expected, and do they require any additonal integration to get them working?

We would like some help with the follownig please:

On this page: http://www.geniuscom.com.au/products-list.php in the content area are a list of sub-categories. These click through to a seondary list of products, and then to a detail page.

What we would like to be able to do is for any secondary lists that only have one item, to re-direct the user straight to the detail page to eliminate the extra click. For example, when you click on "Telelphone Systems", it goes to a list of three products. When you click on Hospitality Solutions, it only has one product. We would like this to go straight to this page: http://www.geniuscom.com.au/products-detail.php?Hospitality-Solutions-9

Can you help? Please consider that I am not a programmer, so you will need to be very specific!

What I can understand here is customer is trying to access database from their script. I will show you the line command to do this (they can easily re-syntax it to their script):

As seen above, I connect to database from the web server using command line. Please notice that the mysql server hostname is: db2.syd.pacific.net.au. I use mysql username and password that was provided by tech support: UN: iceaustweb PW: ic3au5t



I can use the command line (and pair username/passwd) above to view the database. I could also create and view tables structure using the username/password provided. However, I believe user can NOT create new database as each of our customer has been setup a limited privilege.

I've worked out how to add the list of categories in what we've called "Products". It is displaying the "Product Category" items we have set up. So far so good. Now I'm stuck...

Is there an example somewhere of how and where to add this code into the page so it the product categories just display call their subcategories?

The heirarchy goes like this:

Top level main navigation of site is hard coded and not part of the dynamic heirarchy. So, when you click on Products you get (for example)

Telephone Systems (top level category)
>Vendor List (sub category not visible on initial page)
>Support services (sub category not visible on initial page)
>Nortel (sub category not visible on initial page)
>Siemens (sub category not visible on initial page)
>Lake Communications (sub category not visible on initial page)
Audio & Video Conferencing (top level category)
>Another subsection (sub category not visible on initial page)
>Perhaps another one (sub category not visible on initial page)

As per the reference to the website page, http://www.commandercentresydney.com.au/products.php this page displays how we want it to look, it's just after you click on "more" where it needs to go to a multi-record page for that top level category.

Does that makes sense? Do you think Is the suggested method the easiest way to achieve this?

Can you please let me know the best way to achieve the following:

We have a page setup to display top-level categories (products) as a sub-menu on the left of the summary listing on the right see the page here: http://www.commandercentresydney.com.au/products.php

Currently, when you click on a sub-menu item or "more" you go to a single record page for that item. What we need it to do is to go to a multi-record page that lists the sub-categories for the selected product (e.g. "Telephone Systems has 4 or 5 sub-categories). Then when you click on "more" from this page, then you go to a single record page description.

We thought about creating a series of multi-record sections, one for each top-level product (e.g. Telephone Systems), but this would mean hard coding the sub-menu, and the client needs to be able to manage the top-level categories and sub-categories dynamically. The sub-menu DOES NOT need to display sub-categories below what is already displayed.

Your help would be much appreciated!

I am posting here, as the page publisher forum is closed. We still have a couple of legacy sites using PP.

[font "Calibri"]We are moving a few sites that use Page Publisher 1.25 to another hosting provider, and we are having difficulty with the images directory, and the WYSIWYG editor working on the new server. The CGI directory is one level up from the HTML directory where all the site files are located, and the images folder in the CGI directory is not accessible. We have gone through the online tutorial and checked permissions and everything else suggested.

Hi Carrie,

Do you need to move over the "records" in the database, or just the structure of the site (meaning the templates and the sections and field settings, etc)?

If you're selling pre-configured websites and just need to move the "setup" of it and the end user will enter the data then that's much simpler. Let me know and I can help you either way.

We want to be able to move the structure AND the content. Yes, that's the aim - to sell pre-configured websites with "value-added" content for specific niche markets (e.g. legal).

We have had some luck with exporting the SQL database and re-importing it as well as copying and uploading the CMS files, although we noted today that the paths for the migrated images still point to the old site. Any more tips or ideas would be welcomed.

We have some ongoing requirements to copy the structure and content of a site to another site via FTP, so that we can modify the new site (while of course purchasing additional licenses). The reason for this is that we will be creating a series of "custom templated" websites that need to replicated quickly and as simply as possible.

Do you have any detailed instruction on migrating the MySQL content and database, and which order you would upload this data (i.e. database before copying and re-configuring CMS Builder?). We don't have a great deal of experience using phpMyadmin, but understand this is how we would export and import the MySQL databases. So detailed step by step description would be appreciated.

Is there a way to display search results so that they list the actual content containing the keywords (e.g part of the full article, instead of the summary which may not contain the searched keywords?).

I just need to find more options on how to have more control on the search results pages - still not completely happy with how I think this works. Is there some documentaiton you can point me to?
