Linking to an external XML file is a must, obviously.

Thanks,

Colin

I wouldn't mind PAYING to get CMS Builder to be honest, but I have over 8,000 articles in AM2 at the moment and unless there's a way to convert all those to CMS Builder I have no intention of changing and upgrading.

Plus I'm still not convinced that CMS builder can do all the stuff that AM2 does. I use AM2 for my news site and it is very flexible not to mention I also power my iPhone App from it.

Besides that, changing the URL's of all news stories would create a headache for those links crawled in search engines already.

Hi guys,

Ok, as you might or might not know, I have an iPhone app which feeds off my AM2 articles.

I created different pub rules in XML output and I have something that I need to fix but can't figure out how because a) either the feed doesn't load or b) stays the same.

So, here's what I have.

In the Article Row template cell I have:

$article.title:textOnly:htmlEncoded$

$article.content:textOnly:htmlEncoded:maxWords(20)$...

That displays the headline and then the first 20 words of the article content as the preview.

The way it's set like that, I get the HTML format so if I skip a line before the first 20 words, it's displayed.

I don't want that. I need the first 20 words "unformatted" so to speak so it all displays in one nice paragraph.

What's the correct tag to use? I'm attaching a screenshot to show you how it's displayed right now.

Thanks.

So I have finally managed to convert my AM2 news articles and RSS feeds into an iPhone App.

It took an iPhone developer and $300 to do it but I think the end result is wonderful.

What I did is I created 5 different XML feeds, one for each category I wanted. I then created an other rule to output the articles in XML format. It took a while to figure out everything because of the special characters in articles but eventually everything came through.

I'm in the process of submitting the app to Apple for iTunes, which will cost an additional $99. I decided the app will be free....for now so there's certainly no income off this one. It's ad free as well....for now.

You can see a preview of how it looks at http://www.wrestling-online.com/iphone/preview/

I found the guy through GetAFreeLancer.com after several bids and long discussions.

Colin
Wrestling-Online.com

Purchased CMS Builder last week for a client. Pretty good, I like it. This is my third IT product (I have AM2, used Realty Manager and now CMS) and I'm never disappointed.

Good job! And thank you for all the support you give here on the forums. It's the reason why I don't even bother looking at other products because I know that if I have a problem I will come here and it will get fixed quickly.

Colin
Wrestling-Online.com

Anyone ever experimented anything with Twitter and AM2? Seems like everyone uses it but I don't know if it's worth the time and effort.

Posting anything on Twitter would push people only to visit when they see a message instead of just going randomly throughout the day. But then again so do RSS feeds etc.

Anyone has or is using it to drive traffic to their sites?

Colin
Wrestling-Online.com
