Branded CMS

I use CMSB as my own branded CMS. A client is demanding to know what the name of the software is and I obviously don't want to reveal it. Has anyone run into this before? Do you call it your own software or say it's 3rd party software you resell?

That is a good observation!

I've had some users think their password was deleted or "lost" as it wasn't showing up in the field... and panic sets in..

Hi Jason,
I do have the three fields: Current Password, New Password & New Password (again) but I was thinking the Current Password field should be filled in with the user's current password. If not, then there is no way for a user to get their current password by looking at 'My Account' - is that right?

Password not showing up in My Account

In the advanced options for the User Account Password field I have checked "My Account - Show this field in "My Account" section" but the password does not show up when viewing "My Account". I have tried this on a couple different domains using CMSB and the same thing is happening. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

I am a freelancer and sell my web building services to various ad agencies. I quote the agency a fixed price to build the website with the cost of CMSB hidden in the price. They in turn markup my price and sell it to their client. The software is privately labeled with my company name and my company appears as the "Vendor". I am the true owner of the license as I am the one who initially purchased it from Interactive Tools.

1) When I hand over the site after final payment, I am still listed as the "Vendor" and the license agreement states there is no ownership of the software, only the license to use the software. Should I be changing the Vendor to the Ad agency's name even though I am officially the owner in Interactive Tool's eyes as I initially purchased it?

2) Once a site is built and paid for, what is stopping the agency from copying the software, cutting me out and building a new site? I am the one that checked the boxes when I purchased it saying I have read the License Agreement and will not copy the software, not the agency. If they do this and are caught, I assume my neck (and all my sites using the software) will be on the line?

3) The statement in the License Agreement about not having ownership of the software scares some clients as they think I will be able to "pull" the software whenever I want. How do others handle this?

I resell CMS Builder but don't give my clients admin access because, well, most are computer illiterate. The problem is they cannot view the license agreement without admin access. Is there an external way to view the license agreement?

When you upload multiple images, there is a little drag icon on the left. Are images auto-displayed in this order? How can that sorting be removed?

Thanks for the info.

I guess the issue is the client wants to be able to add/update the members' username and passwords from within the site CMS (CMSB), but I am accessing the username & password externally in my members area script.

So if the client adds a new password within CMSB, there is no way for it to be saved as MD5, correct? If I create or update it externally, then of course i can save it as MD5, but then it won't show up in CMSB.

I am building a member area where users can login to view their profile, etc. I have set up text fields in CMSB to store their username and password but of course they are stored as plain text. I would like to store the password encypted.

As I understand reading in a previous thread, there is no functionality to save data encrypted as MD5. Is there a workaround I can use to add a field to MySQL capable of holding MD5 data? I am fairly comfortable with PHP. I see there is an option for a "password" field, but the password will still be saved as text?

I also require a Member Login feature using CMSB. I am currently working on 2 CMSB sites that require it with a potential for another 3. Could you enlighten me as to how the Member Login can be achieved?

Local development without internet access

Was on a plane and ready to commit 7 hours to working on a site but discovered that the install program checks for an internet connection and won't install without it. Is there a way to have a local installation using MAMP without internet?

I am trying to display "sub categories" grouped on a page like this:

Main category title
Sub category 1 title
- product thumbnail
- product thumbnail
- product thumbnail
Sub category 2 title
- product thumbnail
- product thumbnail
- product thumbnail

I have a list field set up as 'sub_category' in the 'products' section.
How can I group the sub category products on the main category page?

Just setup a new install of 1.19. I get this error at the top right in the admin (it's a long logout link):

hi Dave,
What I want to do is only display one for each collection. So in my example, on the live site I want one "avanti" to show along with a "cellum" and "brodi" - even though there are two avanti products. Limiting 1 seems to only show 1 total. Does that make sense?

Multi-select to display links and images

I am using the new multi-select drop down list to select products that are related to the main product. I have it set up as:
Get options from Database
Section Tablename: Products
Option Value: model
Option Label: model

On my product detail page, I am using the viewer to display all the model numbers:

It displays a list of the Model #'s fine, but I also want to display the thumbnail and a link to the product. How would I do that?
