Hi Zickey,

Thank you for your email.

You won't have any problems getting your CMS Builder powered site indexed by Google, Yahoo, Bing, or any other search engine.

In fact, you can even use CMS Builder to update the content between the <title> tags of your pages where you can place relevant keywords. Also, you choose the filenames for the pages that CMS Builder updates (e.g. your-webpage.php), so you can also place your targeted keywords in the URL.

If you're looking to get your site indexed more easily and get a higher ranking in search engines you'll just have to follow basic SEO (search engine optimization).
Hi Kristamk,

Thank you for your post.

There isn't an easy workaround for this as right now the only way to do it is to manually modify the code using the HTML editor.

Here are some options:

1. You could create a separate image upload field and have images output exactly as you want. Your users could then upload images using this upload field.

The benefit here is it creates a uniform feel for each pages, so your images are always output in the same place on each page, use the same horizontal width, etc.

2. Through our consulting service we could add a feature to the WYSIWYG editor where your users could set a custom style to your images depending on whether they are aligned to the left or the right. You can fill out a consulting request on our website here and we can give you a free, no obligation quote:

http://www.interactivetools.com/consulting/index.php

In the mean time, if you have any other questions please let me know.

An example of RFC-822 dates can be found here http://feedvalidator.org/docs/error/InvalidRFC2822Date.html.

I was able to recreate one using the following code, so try using this for your <pubDate> instead:

<?php echo date("D, d M Y H:i:s O", strtotime($record['date'])) ?>

I hope this helps.
Re: [dalfort] View Website - Uploading Code - Very Confused

Hi Dalfort,

CMS Builder doesn't create the pages for you, instead it generates the PHP code for you. You then copy and paste this code into a an HTML editor and save it as the page you want it to update. You can then use CMS Builder to update the content on this page.

For example, if you wanted to create an "About Us" page you would start things off by creating an About Us section editor, generate the code and then paste it into your HTML editor and save it as aboutus.php. You would then customize aboutus.php to match the web design of your choice, and use CMS Builder to update the title and content on your newly created About Us page.

Because you're creating a simple 7 page website, I've prepared a small tutorial below to help you get started. In this example, we'll create a section editor for updating your about us page, and a viewer for aboutus.php so you can view the page through your web browser.

1. Log into CMS Builder and go Admin -> Section Editors and click Add New Editor. For Menu Type we're going to select a preset called "About". Once done, click Create New Menu. You'll see the "About" Section Editor is now available in your CMS Builder's navigation. (You've just created a Section Editor)

2. Go to Admin -> Code Generator. For "Select Section" choose About and for "Viewer Type" choose Detail Page. Click "Show Code"

3. You're going to now want to copy and paste the code you generated into your HTML editor (e.g. dreamweaver) and save the page as aboutus.php. Upload the page to your website's web root. (You've now created a Viewer)

4. Visit the page by going to http://www.yourwebsite.com/aboutus.php. You'll see that you have a newly created aboutus.php page. Go to CMS Builder and click on "About Us" and update the title and content field and then revisit the aboutus.php page. You'll see the content you input (using the About Us section editor) is now output on your aboutus.php page (About Us viewer).

5. The last step is to format the aboutus.php page. Using your HTML editor you can customize the page to include your own design. You can use HTML and CSS to modify this page to match the look and feel of your website.

To go over terminology, here's what they generally mean -

Section Editor: These are areas in CMS Builder that you use for updating sections of your website. You can create sections for updating your news/articles, about us pages, etc. About Us pages, Contact Us pages, etc are "Single Records", you don't have multiple about us pages. Things like News and Articles are Multi-Records, this is because you have several news items in a news section.

Viewers: This is how the content is output on your website. Viewers are HTML pages with some extra PHP tags that load content from the CMS Builder database. You can create viewers using the "Code Generator".

So in the example above, in steps 1 you created a Section Editor for your about us page, in steps 2-3 you created a viewer for viewing the aboutus.php page.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hi jtedescojam,

Thank you for clarifying things.

Every time you upload an image the images path is saved to the database. Your website will continue to look for your old images in /jt/cmsAdmin/uploads folder because this is the path that was saved to the database when you first uploaded the image.

There are three possible solutions to this:

1. Create a folder named /jt/cmsAdmin/uploads and move all of your old uploaded images to there. Also, if you haven't uploaded any new photos you might want to keep the Upload Directory and Upload Folder URL pointing towards /jt/cmsAdmin/uploads just so all of your old and new images are in the same place.

2. If you don't have that many records with image/file uploads you can go through the process of editing your records through CMS Builder and reuploading your images to the new /cmsAdmin/uploads directory.

3. You can manually modify the path for each of your records in the database from /jt/cmsAdmin/uploads to /cmsAdmin/uploads. I recommend this option last because when working with your data the smallest mistake can have a serious undesired result. If you do want to attempt to update the paths manually by modifying your database let me know and I can explain what needs to be done, or if you want we can make these changes for you through our consulting service.

In the mean time, if you have any questions please let me know. :)

Did you create a new folder and move the program files into there, but decided to keep /cmsAdmin/uploads/ directory as your uploads folder (both on the server and in the general settings)?

Can you upload new images now or are the old images not being displayed?

Hi Noff,

Yes it is possible to change the colors of the WYSIWYG box. You can modify the following file:

/cmsAdmin/lib/wysiwyg.css

To change your colors so the text is white and the background black, change this:

body.mceContentBody {
background:#FFFFFF;
}

body.mceContentBody, .mceContentBody td, .mceContentBody pre {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 12px;
color: #000;
}

To this:

body.mceContentBody {
background:#000;
}

body.mceContentBody, .mceContentBody td, .mceContentBody pre {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 12px;
color: #FFF;
}

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Re: [hegadmin] Creating Custom Presets?

Hi hegadmin,

To create a CMS Builder preset do the following:

1. Log into CMS Builder and create a new section editor (Admin -> Section Editors -> Add New Editor). For this example we'll create a new Multi Record editor and enter in Articles as the Menu and Table Name. Click "Create New Menu".

2. Modify your new "Articles" section editor and add new fields as you see fit.

3. When done, on your server go to /cmsAdmin/data/schema folder and copy over your articles.ini.php file to your /cmsAdmin/data/schemaPresets folder. (Make sure you copy the schema file and not move it or else your initial table will disappear).

4. For new CMS Builder installations you can simply place the articles.ini.php file in the /cmsAdmin/data/schemaPresets folder and when creating a new section editor select "Articles" from the "select presets" drop down.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please let me know.
