Hi, Dave.

I have a related question about comparing AM2 with CMSb.

One thing we like most about AM2 is the SEO friendly .html output capability.

Does CMSb share that capability?

thanks!

RBW

Using "My Placeholders" in an article

I am still pretty new to AM2, but have had success using nearly all of the features, and really like the ability to code "my placeholders" for use in the templates.

Using them in a template has been great, but I want to be able to allow editors and other article authors to embed them in an article summary or content field.

The need here is to be able to maintain a my.placeholder for contacts for a given topic, category, etc. and have that contat's name, email, phone or other data be stored as a placeholder, so that when a contact changes, I can easily update his or her info in the placeholder and know that the various pages that need that info will be updated automatically, via the placeholder.

I see that when I attempt to use such a my.placeholder in an article summary or content field, it simply renders the variable (placeholder) name, such as $my.siteName$.

I figured that means they have to be coded into templates instead, but it would be great to be able to use them in an article, for many reasons, as described above...

So I tried creating a text field into which I could insert a placeholder, and have the template translate it. That also just rendered as displaying the placeholder, not its value.

I suppose I could create a more complex if-test, rendering one or more pre-coded placeholders if a checked field matches some string... but it would be better to be able to simply insert the placeholder into an article.

Am I missing a better or more effective way to achieve this result?

Thanks!

Randy
