Having been away from CMS builder for ages, i've found come back to it and I'm having a frustrating problem.

I've created two 'sections' one is a multi-record list of pages, the other is a multi-record list of 'side bars'. I create three side bars and then every time I add a page I assign one of the side bars.

Right, so I've put this in the header:

<?php

// this bit gets the content

// load viewer library
$libraryPath = 'cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php';
$dirsToCheck = array('/home/weget123/public_html/airguard/','','../','../../','../../../');
foreach ($dirsToCheck as $dir) { if (@include_once("$dir$libraryPath")) { break; }}
if (!function_exists('getRecords')) { die("Couldn't load viewer library, check filepath in sourcecode."); }

// load records
list($pagesRecords, $pagesMetaData) = getRecords(array(
'tableName'   => 'pages',
'where'       => whereRecordNumberInUrl(1),
'loadUploads' => '0',
'limit'       => '1',
));
$pagesRecord = @$pagesRecords[0]; // get first record

// show error message if no matching record is found
if (!$pagesRecord) { dieWith404("Record not found! Pages"); }

// find which sidebar to use:
$sidebar = $pagesRecord['side_bar'];

?>
<?php

// load viewer library
$libraryPath = 'cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php';
$dirsToCheck = array('/home/weget123/public_html/airguard/','','../','../../','../../../');
foreach ($dirsToCheck as $dir) { if (@include_once("$dir$libraryPath")) { break; }}
if (!function_exists('getRecords')) { die("Couldn't load viewer library, check filepath in sourcecode."); }

// load records
list($side_barsRecords, $side_barsMetaData) = getRecords(array(
'tableName'   => 'side_bars',
'where'       => 'num = '.$sidebar,
'limit'       => '1',
));
$side_barsRecord = @$side_barsRecords[0]; // get first record

// show error message if no matching record is found
if (!$side_barsRecord) { dieWith404("Record not found!side"); }

As you can see, I pop the side bar value into a variable "$sidebar" and then try to call it in the second bit of code, however each time I do this the number is ignored and the code grabs "num" from the URL again giving the wrong result.

I guess I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but I'll be jiggered if I know what!

Only just found this thread, but I had exactly the same problem with a customer who wanted to upload large videos (sometimes over 50meg).

The only way around this is to use FTP because those PHP upload limits are there for a reason, but then again, you don't want to be giving your customers FTP access with which to trash your server, so I solved it in a different way.

I wrote a program that will allow the customer to upload one file at a time to a directory that you specify. This works particularly well in the wysiwyg editor because you just upload the files to the /upload/ directory and when they go to insert an image or video - the file is there waiting for them.

If anyone's interested in trying it out, please PM me. It's very beta (just testing it on a customer site today), but if it works well I think it solves a very big problem.

The problem here is that the comments will all have blank entries where the blog is and it'll look a bit odd (in the admin).

The second is to have two seperate menus, one is for the blogs, the others for the comments. From an admin point of view I'm thinking this might be the best way, however going into the 'comments' menu will show the comments all over the place. Ideally I'd want to be able to click on my blog entry and go straight to all the comments for that blog.

Just thinking aloud, but any ideas welcome.

I'll just pipe in here.

I think the key is to see CMSB as an extremely advanced database view manager. I'll explain.

I integrated a calendar in the same way I would integrate user logins. Essentially, all a user login does is check a user's name and password against a database. If they match - set a session cookie and you're away.

Like I did with my calendar, to shortcut this process, just go get yourself a login script (from hotscripts.com) and you'll find that it comes with a user manager.

The login script will tell you which tables it looks at to authenticate a user. Simply user CMSB to create these tables. You can then manage the users from within CMSB whilst using the authentication code that you downloaded from Hotscripts (or wherever).

Does that help?
