Hi all. Asking a real "newbie" question here. I'm adding CMS builder to an existing html site and need to add php content on a few of the html pages. Plan to use the .htaccess file to do so but have two concerns:

1. Working on a MAC where files that begin with w "." are viewed as system files. So have the file locally without the dot. Planning to load to the server and then change the name by adding the dot. Is this an acceptable process?

2. This site has been up for a while and is well placed with the Search Engines. Will this effect the indexing of these pages in the future?

Thanks for any and all help here.
