There was an error sending the request! (403 forbidden)

The problem has appeared recently for me and is independent of CMS Builder version (just updated to 2.64 on one website, but problem persists).

Searching the forums here, this hasn't been mentioned since 2012: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/forum-posts.php?postNum=2216094#post2216094. I've tried adding hyphens to links (as described in that thread), but the pages load normally with e.g. "/index.php?-s".

Presumably this is due to a server security setting?

Is it just a matter of uploading all the files and folders from the old server to the new one? Because the various folder paths won't match, could I just edit these in the /data/settings.dat.cgi before uploading to the new server?

Also, while in the process of moving, it would be preferable to have the site live on the old server until it is ready on the new server. Is this OK?

Harald

Ah, I remember having had the same problem.

When a checkbox field is created later on in the process, the values for that field for articles having already been created is blank in the database. Articles created after will either get the value "0" or "1" when saved (depending on unchecked or checked). If you re-save all articles created before creating the new field, then their field value will no longer be blank.

The problem with the sorting arises because AM seems to list articles with blank values first no matter whether "Reverse order" is selected or not (though it seems to be limited to checkboxes).

What I did was was to use a listbox instead of a checkbox, where the "list" contains only one choice corresponding to a selected checkbox (it is given the value 1 in the field editor). This seems to avoid the problems with sorting based on checkbox fields.

(If you test this I recommend you create a new field and not convert the old one to a listbox)

Harald

Hi AJ

Ahh, I see what you're saying. This would be useful on my pages as well. Unfortunately I can't see any good way around the problem using just conditional comments in AM. The thing is that when AM is generating the content within each articleRow-templatecell, it has no idea what category the $articleList$ is going to be placed in.

However, there might be a way to do this with CSS:
1) On the category page itself add a class that includes the placeholder, such as "category$category.num$ (may as well use $category.num$), for example

<body class="category$category.num$">

2) Add this code in the articleRow-templatecell where the "Posted in: ..." goes

<span class="posted-in-$category.num$">
Posted in: <a href="{placeholder for link to category page}">$category.name$</a>
</span>

3) The following CSS would be category-specific and have to be included with each category in the head tag:

<style type="text/css">
.category$category.num$ .posted-in-$category.num$ {
display: none;
}
</style>

This will hide the entry "Posted in: ..." only when the article is posted in the category that is currently being viewed.

I haven't tried this method, but it seems like it should work.

Harald

Basically, the problem is that when "include articles from subcategories" is selected, AM publishes parents of selected categories even though these are not selected in that publish-rule. This is very confusing and can overlap with published files from other rules.

While it is a good idea to avoid too many different templates, it will in some cases, as you say, be necessary in order to keep the number of template-ifs down to a manageable level. And the issue I just mentioned will, as in Neil's case, force you to use just one template.

Harald

Hi Neil

Thanks for the input. I realize the method you mention for applying different CSS styles would work. I guess the point I was trying to make is that it shouldn't be necessary to manually add information about parent categories when that information is already in the database. IMO there should be some set of commands that allows this information to be extracted with a simple template-if.

As for using different templates for different sections, I completely agree, it does get complicated, especially with category menus (I've done a lot of head scratching over category menu templates). Therefore I'm interested in any progress you make with the method you outlined in post #5.

Harald

Hi Neil

I recently ran into this issue myself. The problem seems to me to be related to the option "include articles from subcategories" for a publish rule. When this option is selected, and some non-top-level category is selected for this rule, Article Manager insists on using that same rule to publish files for all the parents of this category, even though these parents are not selected. At least for me, this issue vanishes when not using "include articles from subcategories". But in general, of course, this is an unreasonable constraint, and I suspect there is some bug at work here.

I also think that what you mentioned initially in this thread about checking with a template-if for whether a category has a given parent would be very useful indeed. It would eliminate the need to manually add parent-category information into subcategories in order to apply different styles to different category branches (which in most cases is a rather daunting task, and partly defeats the purpose of having a category structure). For starters, something like
<!-- templateIf: $category.anyParentCategoryNum$ == '12' -->
would be great.

Harald

Hi

I had the same problem, but I discovered it has to do with encoding of foreign characters in the caption-field for the images. Apparently the upgrade-script for AM1.41-AM2 doesn't go through the image-captions.

When AM then tries to display the list of images for an article it can't because it doesn't understand the encoding (or something like that). The images should appear however in an article where there are no foreign characters in the captions (they did for me anyway).

I fixed it by doing search&replace in the data-file for the articles (data/db_article.dat); searching for the old/incorrect encoding and replacing with the new/correct one.

For example:
The Norwegian letter "quot; was encoded "%F8" in AM 1.41-captions but it has to be "%C3%B8" to be Unicode/AM2-compatible. See for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_XML_and_HTML_character_entity_references for a list of character entities.

Hope this helps

Harald
