Hi there, I had my team setup CMS builder for a client site (CSAO.net).

Up until February the client, who is not very technical was able to update the site without issues.

However, as of late February they are unable to make any changes to the site.

They tell me that their cursor automatically goes to the top of the page and that if they try and type anything in a text field it will not save.

The client is using Internet Explorer.

I am able to make updates/edits for them but they woud like to know why they are longer able to update the site.

The program version is 1.33.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

James

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way to customize error messages in Article Manager 2?

For example if we have a user attempting to add an article with the same file name as an article which already exists the error message which they receive upon trying to publish the article is what I would like to be able to change, along with other error messages that may arise upon the publishing.

Thank you.

James

Hi There,

Anyone have experience connecting AM2 to PayPal or other Payment systems? I am going to be developing a site where the client wants to sell house plans. There are a few things I would like the site to accomplish.

- Client needs to be able to add House Plans through AM2

- Users (site visitors) need to be able to search for variety of different type of house plans (e.g. square footage, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms)

- Site visitors need to have the ability to purchase hosueplans online though PayPal (or another payment system) and possibly a merchant account.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this type of project.

Thanks in advance.

James

Re: [jpea1] AM2 or Realty Manager

Hi Chet and Jpea1,

Thanks for both of your posts.

Jpea1, great points about the aesthetic look and feel of the AM2 vs. the MLS look, I also think that it is a BRILLIANT idea to link AM2 articles within the property listings areas! I find that this type of thinking is employed exceptionally well by sites like Amazon.com (how often do we find ourselves clicking to a number of different links when mean to look up just one product), so congratulations Jpea1 for coming up with some wonderfully progressive AM2 strategies.

I am very glad to hear that you have also had success incorporating video and audio files, I have been considering adding video files to my site and need to learn a bit more about how to do this through AM2. I have used light boxes, but never gone through the process of adding them to a site, I am also glad to read that you have been able to successful add these to AM2.

The site which I am building is focused more on Rentals as opposed to Sales, but I would certainly love the opportunity to see your site jpea1 when you are up and running.

Jpea1 very good point about giving "free access" to AM2 as this is a big part of my development strategy, the objective of the site is to allow individual property owners to add their properties to the site. I want to give them the ability to add photos, write descriptions, enter number of bedrooms, proximity to golf courses etc. Much like your individual agents who have the ability to manage their own ads.

Chet, as jpea1 was mentioning AM2 requires a bit more writing skill than RM which would require form filling skills (e.g. how many bedrooms, how close to beach - less than 1 km, 1-3 km etc.), is it possible to create some type of standardized form template that individual property owners could fill out in AM2? The reason that I ask is that is that we may end up with a number of individual property owners 100 +, some of which may not be too web savvy and our objective is let the owners manage their listings. It would really simplify the procedure if they all filled out the same standardized form in AM2 and this information was used to build the pages.

Jpea1 I also sent an email to Chet, which I will re-post here just so the others can see some of the other questions I had:

Hi Chet,

Thanks for responding to my post and for the email! J

There are a few more questions that I had for you with respect the using AM2 for this website:

1. The way the website is going to work is that individual members (users) will be given login details and will be updating the specific details of their own properties. Consequently, one of our goals is to make it really easy for new members add and update their properties.

2. Thanks for the great example of adding additional fields for things like bedrooms and lot size, since the focus of our site will be vacation rentals and we want to give website visitors the ability to search for specific properties e.g. number of bedrooms, price range, pool or beach front property

Thanks Chet and Jpea1.

AM2 or Realty Manager

Hi There,

I am developing a website and I am trying to determine which product would be more effective as I am looking for features that are offered by both AM2 and Realty Manager (RM).

The purpose of the site is to allow indvidual property owners to advertise their rental properties, the idea would be that they pay an annual membership fee and can promote their rental units through our site. My initial thought was Realty Manager would be the perfect solution BUT hold the phone there are a couple of items that got my attention:

1. Realty/Listings Manager publishes listings as l0001.php, unlike AM2 which uses the name of the article to create the file name (I also like the fact that AM2 creates a folder for each category). Ive found that search engines give a higher ranking to pages that contain keywords in the file name.

So question number 1 - Is there a way for RM to publish the file name like AM2?

2. Another feature that is very important to us is that search engines have the ability to crawl the site. So, on the homepage I would like to have a list of categories (locations). Each location would link to a static page with a list of properties in that location (ideally this page would be indexed and help our search engine rankings). Basically, I dont want the RM search engine to generate the page with the list of properties. I know this can be done with AM2, but Im not sure it can be done with RM? (hmmmm?)

3. In some ways it seems that AM2 would be the better product BUT (hold the phone again [;)]). One of the features that attracted me to RM in the first place was the search engine function that allows a user to define min/max bedrooms, location, etc., all in one search (great work Interactive Tools guys! [cool]) Can this type of things be done in AM2? And if it can't is there any way in which to somehow cross breed these two programs so that AM2 could use RM's search functionality?

Or if anyone else has a suggestion it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Thanks

James
