Hi, Parson my amnesia. I have not had to mess with users for a while and I cannot see how to add or edit Users in the backend of CMSB. One client was upgraded by you folks and the other was a fresh install.

Can you remind me exactly where to go to edit Users. I cannot see it anywhere in the account or Admin areas.

Conflicts with Windows 7 and using CMSB

I have a client who has been happily using CMS Builder V1.22 for some time. The admins in the office use XP to make their updates.

Of course, the "boss" gets Windows 7 put on her home laptop and claims she has trouble making editing text, uploading documents and so forth. It is notable because everything worked smoothly for everyone under XP. I check the permissions levels of the different users.

I also am assuming she is using IE 8.

I have Win7/Home/32bit on a virtual machine and my testing shows no problems.

Have you had other CMSB users experience difficulty? Is there a setting that has been the culprit?

There version is old, yes, but I don't think that should make a difference.

Menu Group error message

I am using 2.06 CMSB and as the clients section editors have increased in number, I thought I would try out the collapsible menu group feature.

When I try to add a Menu Group, I get this message:

"Couldn't load preset schema"

I made sure that the expanded menu options is unchecked in the general preferences. Is there something I'm not doing?

Why am I getting this javascript alert message on this page?
I have made so many 'detail' pages on this site, and I usually don't put a Viewer URL in on the section editor page when I am only using the Single record view.

You can compare it with this page.. which is built on the same template ( I think!) and with similar content, shows no alerts. No viewer URL was specified in this section either.

Basic Explanation of Category Menus Needed

Hi,
It's 2011 and I still don't see any clear explanation of Category Menus, both a clear description of how to set them up, but most important, what they look like! Dave's tutorials are fine for those well on their way to using the feature.

I just can't wrap my head around what the end result should look like and I sense that others in this forum feel the same way.

Are there any CMSB web sites out there who are using the category menus?

Also, why use this feature if I'm already using menu systems such as those from Project Seven?

Really, a small set of "How it works" screens like you have for the basic page creation steps is sorely needed here.

That's great to know about the inconsistent application of a specified charset. Thank you for making this clear.

And I had been using some html comments at the top of the page to remind myself to add the php headers on my templates. There were definitely artifacts of spaces, etc. that were causing the error messages.

I recently upgraded an older cmsb site and I noticed that when I generated new pages the opening code was:

?php header('Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); ?>

my older pages started straight off with
As I am adding the code generator code to Dreamweaver templates, I already have the usual meta tag with:

When testing my pages, I see the warning message:

Can you explain what's going on with the php headers or am I getting the warning from another cause?

However, on some other pages I'm developing, they display properly with the php header.

Returning field's content inside a table

I would like to put a table with months on the left (jan feb etc.) and three categories of downloads along the top (document, rev1, rev2).

I tried to take the fields I created and insert them inside the table, but I got nothing but php parse errors.

This is the page I am trying to have in a table format:

Not all months will have content.

Can you advise about having CMS records appear inside a table? Is there an example somewhere? thanks in advance,

I am installing CMS Bldr for a group's web site and often there are important legal requirements about information they post.

The Director would like to have any new CMS content checked out before it goes live.

As I see it, even a Writer's submissions will immediately post to the site.

Is there a way, as there was in the old Article Manager, to have alerts of new content sent to a higher level "Editor" for approval before the content goes live?

Handling image uploads

Can you explain how I reference the full size image versus the thumbnail?

I would like the thumbnail image to be clickable to the full size image. DO I have to make this link manually or is there an automatic way to do it?

I see the full size image in the cmsAdmin/uploads/ directory but I do not see it appear on my php pages.

I am making a Staff page and the list page shows the thumbnail perfectly on the staff list, but there is no sign of the full size image on the detail page.

I agree that some 'start to finish' examples would be great. For example, I would like clear answers to these questions:

1. What to do when you have a site built already on templates such as those of Project Seven and are sitting in the Dreamweaver universe.

2. Clear instructions about how file extensions need to be re-named.

3. Agree with request: 11. A walkthrough on setting up a site in CMSB from start to finish --considering both blank slate starts and inserting into previously assembled sites.

4. GLOSSARY! Some of the terms you use are confusing before you get familiar with "CMSB speak"

5. Clear paths to examples that are out there. Where can I see them?
