AM2 Website - Member Only Articles

Hi

I am in the process of designing an article-based website and have almost decided to use AM2. However, I have one issue I am not sure if AM2 can help me with. Basically, all the documents (pdf) on the website will be viewable (title & summary) to all, however downloading some of the articles will require the user to have a membership account and login.

I'm trying to come up with a method that would allow me this flexibility. I was thinking of adding a new field that would identify the article as "private" or "public".

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Dave: All I did was create a category menu and renamed "name" to "title" and removed "content".

Now that I understand why, its not an issue, as the only person who sees the db and the code is me!

Are you using IE 6 or 7? Some of my clients have reported a similar issue, but they also seem to be missing some of the left-side menu items. I use Firefox/Safari on a Mac, and have no issues.... Microsoft at it again! [angelic]

Category Menu - SQL Error

I created a section editor called "Demo" (see attached 'demo.ini.php' file). When I try to add a record, I get the following SQL error:

"MySQL Error: Unknown column 'name' in 'field list'."

I have no reference to a field named "name" anywhere in the schema file. I tried to manually change the table by adding a field named 'name" and it worked. However, when I removed it, I could no longer edit the existing record as it gave me the same error.

Any ideas? Looks like a bug to me!

While I am not a Windows fan and have not used WAMP, I have been using MAMP (Mac) & LAMP (Linux) for a number of years. Both are excellent implementations and definitely simplify not only development but installation on a production server.

Great way to test your work prior to ftping to production!

Perchpole: I apologize, you are definitely correct! I was up last night until 1am re-writing parts of the code & troubleshooting. I finally managed to correct the error (and, yes it was definitely the missing "/") around 1am... I was sure it wasn't the css, and as you noted, couldn't be the CMSB, so it really didn't leave much left!

I already checked the css files, and that is not the problem. Especially as if you go to http://cycloneaircadets.com/resources_e.php you will see that the CMSB used in this file works perfectly.

As for the

markings, I have also tried disabling them as per this post [url]http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=63416#63416{/url] but it still makes no difference to the font size.

IE7 Font Size Problem

Hi!

I am having a problem with code from cmsBuilder which changes the font size in IE7. It works properly in Firefox & Safari. Basically, the file "announcements_e3.php" has the code generated from cmsBuilder. The file "announcements_e.php" has no cmsBuilder generated code.

"announcements_e3.php" works correctly except in IE7 where the font increases in size based on the number of records.

Thanx! Already tried that. While it does remove the blank line between paras, it still gives me a problem. If you go to http://cycloneaircadets.com/announcements_e.php you will notice that in the announcements the first 2 fields (textfields) render correctly. However the 3rd field, Details, is WYSIWYG. With this field, the

still forces the text of the record to start on the next line. Unfortunately, my client wants a WYSIWYG field here.

Basically, I would like to have the record to start printing one space after the "Details:" title.

Any ideas?

Thank you both for your solutions. I actually used both of them as some of my fields were simple one liners, but another did have to be wysiwyg.

With the css change Iwill have to check the rest of my site to see what it affected, but it doesn't look like any major areas have changed.

Unwanted paragraph markup

On my website I want to display a number of announcements, consecutively one below the other. This works well, except that cmsBuilder forces the

html markup in each record. This then moves every line down one, adding a pile of unwanted whitespace.

Here is my code snippet:

When I checked the data in each record, I noticed that the content is wraped in

paragraph markup which forces the whitespaces. I've tried removing the

in my code, but there is no difference. How can I get rid of the markup in each record?

UNDEFINED VARIABLE Error

Hi!

I am having some minor problems with the php part of my code. Basicaly after I insert the code generated by cmsBuilder at the top of my php file, I get an UNDEFINED VARIABLE error:

Notice: Undefined variable: DIR_WS_HTTP_BASE in /home/rbrooks/public_html/announcements_e1.php on line 37 Notice: Undefined variable: DIR_WS_HTTP_BASE in /home/rbrooks/public_html/includes/3col_menu.php on line 1

If I move the php code below where the variables are used, I no longer get the error. Attached is my file. If I move the cmsBuilder code to line 38, the error disappears.

Can someone help me with this??

However, it looks like I will have to develop my own help for my clients... as the CMS Builder help file is really aimed at development. My clients will need to understand the cms I developed for them & how it works, including the editor.

Not much choice, really!

I have a site which has a multi-record viewer. Two of the records are normal (title, summary, content). However, one of the records is a link to a pdf file (hyperlink in content field to pdf). As you can guess, this is very ugly, as you have to go from the list (title, summary) to the detail (title, content) page, then select the hyperlink.

Is there a cleaner way of doing the same thing?

Private Label - Help File Integration

I have setup CMS Builder as a private label, which works great. However, the help link connects to the help file on the interactive tools website. Is there a downloadable copy of the help files available? Where do I change the help file hyperlink?
