Hi -
I have had some detail pages that were working perfectly well until recently. However (and this might have co-incided with a long overdue upgrade about three months ago) something strange is happening.

Images that are uploaded for certain fields are not displaying - when I check the source I often find that the path to the image is completely missing (so it only displays the filename).

I have the URL path set in 'General Settings'. I have tried various different things, such as setting custom paths and then unsetting them. I've checked everything I can think of but nothing seems to work.

One odd thing is that I'd expect old detail pages to follow suit as they are constructed 'on-the-fly' from the template file and the database, but the older records seem to work perfectly well. However, if I remove and re-upload the image it disappears (the path and the image)

Here's an example of an old record with the path and image still working (best practice logo top right): http://www.eyps.info/providers/Providerpage.php/7

And here's one that worked perfectly well until a few minutes ago when I deleted and re-uploaded the same image: http://www.eyps.info/providers/Providerpage.php/13.

As far as I can remember I haven't changed the template file, but can't swear to it. But I'd have thought it would have treated all files the same if it was the template causing the issue.

Any help would be gratefully received - it's one of those tear your hair out things which is probably perfectly obvious...

I'd like to make an online version of a user guide which could be then maintained and updated in elements, but I can't really see an easy way of getting CMSB to control it.

For example, it would need to have an indefinite number of chapters and subsections (Top level heading, 2nd level heading, 3rd level heading etc), just as a normal userguide might have (1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc).

If the content was entered by CMSB, each of these levels would require their own multi-record sections and appear in the editor list as a hierarchical list.

Does this sound feasible? It's just a question really, I won't be shocked if it's not! [:)]

Hi -
Don't know quite how to describe this properly, but here goes:

You know when some mail clients receive an email with a long URL link in them, they 'break' the URL a part of the way along and wrap the rest of it onto the next line without the hyperlink?

We have to send out quite a few emails containing links like these, which some of our customers are sending back saying that the link doesn't work.

The problem we're having with CMSB detail page links is that instead of putting a broken link page up, which would be fine, the hyperlink on the first part of the link contains the detail page and part of the individual record, and this causes the link to deliver the last record for that section.

I hope that makes sense. I'll try to demonstrate what I mean below:

This link sends you correctly to a particular page:

http://www.foundation-stage.info/newfsf/aboutus/LEApages/laPage.php/Hampshire-County-Council-18

The following link, however, has been broken by the email client and contains only the first part of the link as a clickable hyperlink:

http://www.foundation-stage.info/newfsf/aboutus/LEApages/laPage.php/Hamp
with the rest of the line broken and wrapped onto the next line: shire-County-Council-18

However, instead of taking you to an error page, the link takes you to the page for Wandsworth, which is alphabetically the last record in the index.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

I want to have a link back to each category index page from the detailed article page, and I can't make it work. I'm not sure if it's because of the way the categories and articles sections work together, but the standard code supplied gives this line:

<p class="ref" align="right"><a href="<?php echo $articlesMetaData['_listPage']; ?>"> Back to index</a><br />

which just leaves the reader on the same detail page when clicked. I'm not clever enough with php to work out how the _listPage should be working, so if you could advise I'd be grateful!

Best wishes,
Steve.

Most of it's done now, but I'm a bit stuck on how to re-produce one thing.

I have a number of different article types, all using different section editors. On the front page of the website I have links to the last four articles published. So something needs to search each article type, and get the most recent four, regardless of which section(s) they came from.

Hope I've explained that properly. If you can let me know how to do this I can re-use the solution in a number of slightly different ways on different pages.

Regards, Steve.

Thanks Jerry I missed your reply. That's more or less what I'll do. I want to have an 'Articles' template with a large number of standard fields, which I can then use to create an indeterminate number of 'types' of article. Thing is I keep thinking of extra fields I'd like to put in this template, which is why I asked this question.

One thing that occurred to me is that it might be quite smart to have some types of templates that will automatically update or add fields in the sections that were created from them, which might save some repetition when you're adding fields at a later date.

But I can also see where that might cause unexpected problems...
