Thank you for the quick reply and good to hear that it’s technically possible in PHP!

Hello,

I think the Convert to Text plugin is fantastic however as it requires Java I can’t use it for clients that are on the shared hosting platform we use (as Java isn’t supported).

Is there any workaround someone can suggest?

I’m also wondering if Java really is necessary to index files or if it could be done purely in PHP… I’m hoping something in PHP8 maybe can handle this that wasn’t available when the plugin was first developed back in 2016.

Any knowledge or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the notification about this and, of course, for releasing v3.57!

Are the latest versions of all the plugins that are available to download from your website compatible with PHP 8? For example, I am wondering about the website membership plugin, which doesn't seem to have been updated since Jan 19, 2018 so I would be surprised if this didn't need an update.

Also, is there a free scanner/script that can identify code that won't work with PHP 8 or is is just a case of upgrading and then manually testing everything?

Thanks again,

Hello,

I am using the Website Comments plugin and currently users can upload files with their posts. The files are uploaded to the app server however I would like to upload the files to S3.

We already have the S3 file upload functionality working well in other areas of the site. The main file is at /cmsb/lib/s3_functions.php

So I would like to include this file in the websiteComments.php code but when I try the following it does not work:

include_once(__DIR__ .'/../../lib/s3_functions.php');

I receive this error:

#85 - UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION: Credentials must be an instance of Aws\Credentials\CredentialsInterface, an associative array that contains "key", "secret", and an optional "token" key-value pairs, a credentials provider function, or false./var/www/html/php/dev/cmsb/vendor/aws/aws-sdk-php/src/ClientResolver.php (line 419)http://dev.test/bulletin_board.php

I'm not sure why we are able to upload to S3 on normal "list" and "detail" pages but can't get this to work when used in a plugin. Is there something like a hook that needs to be written?

If anyone could offer some advice that would be great!

Overall this plugin is working well for us however we are noticing that some .docx and .xlsx files are not being converted to text.

For example, when I upload .xlsx files these are never converted to text however it works for .xls files. I am also able to create and upload .docx files and these are converted to text correctly but when I use an existing .docx file from a sample file website (e.g. https://file-examples-com.github.io/uploads/2017/02/file-sample_100kB.docx) this never converts.

Are there any known issues with .xlsx and .docx file types or could there be some code that needs checking over?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Regards,

Thanks, Carl. My plan is to create a new PHP file that I run with cron every 5 minutes.

This is what I have so far:

<?php
require_once('cmsb/lib/schema_functions.php');
require_once('cmsb/lib/mysql_functions.php');
require_once('cmsb/lib/database_functions.php');
require_once('cmsb/plugins/permalinks/permalinks_pluginsMenu.php');

$response = _permalink_updateTable('listings');

But when I run this I am seeing this error:
