Just my 2 cents on this...Quite often, especially in Word, when text is cut and pasted some of the special characters are not encoded, or there are hidden characters placed within, that are interpreted differently when dealing with html or php. Here's 2 simple solutions that I've seen work with this issue on a variety of programs or scripts:
1. cut and paste into WordPad first. Save the text removing any formatting. Recut and paste into the program or script.
2. if that doesn't work, then after cutting and pasting, retype any of the special characters over. For example the quote marks. If you watch your screen closely you'll physically see a change in the look of the character when it's typed over...thus using the correct character set inputted from your keyboard.
Hope it helps.
