How Can I Limit a Field?

I'm designing a real estate site. I have a field called featured listing with a check box. I do not want the users to check the featured listing box for all their listings.
I want to be able to select how many listings each user may feature. Can anyone head me in the right direction?

Hi James,
Unfortunately there's no way to do this on the admin backend.
With some custom programming, you could probably have a direct SQL query that would list the latest featured listing from each user. It would be a bit of a complicated query though.
