Searching Different Sections - 1 search box

Hi,

I'm looking at setting up a website for those involved in indie film.

I'd like to be able to have a search section, where people can search for specific roles.

So they could type in 'Portsmouth' in the search, and select 'directors' from a pull-down, then it would show directors from Portsmouth.

What I would really like though, is a selection of search boxes:

Search Role Country Cost

Is this possible?

Re: [Moonworks] Searching Different Sections - 1 search box

Hi Ross,

The main thing I'd like, is for there to be various selections that can be made, the first would be a search box as usual, used to cut down on results, but the rest would all be pull-down menus, to narrow the search:

Role (director, producer, actor, camera, etc)

Location (UK, USA, Japan, etc)

Cost (Works for free, £20 a day, £50 a day, etc)

Does this make more sense?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe

Thanks for the extra details!

That definitely makes more sense. Basically, you are going to have several drop down fields on one search box so visitors can narrow their results all the way down.

You can have as many drop downs as you like on the search box. As long as you have a field in your system for each one to hook into, you'll be fine. Once you get going, I can show you the way to name each field so it searches properly.

Keep me up to date with how you are making out :).

Have a look at the search docs for more details:

An example search field might be:

<select name="location_match">
<option>UK</option>
<option>USA</option>
<option>Japan</option>
<option>etc</option>
</select>

Hope that helps!
