Each page on my website has a "main" content area and a "sidebar." I want to edit both areas. What's the easiest way to set this up?

Hi,

For "main" content area and a "sidebar" are you talking about one section of your site like News or your whole site?

Can you reply with some examples of the kinds of pages?

Every page of the site has a main content area and a sidebar. Both include text and images that I'd like to edit: Example: http://customerskills.com/

Hi,

Right now your site is down: http://customerskills.com/

Possible the server needs to be rebooted. Check with your host.

Post again when your site is online again so I can take a look a make some suggestions for setting up CMS Builder to update the main content and sidebar areas.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

To update the "main" content area and a "sidebar" on each page of your site, I suggest you use a WYSIWYG editor for the Main Content and anther WYSIWYG editor for the sidebar.

Most of the pages of you site could be setup as Single Record sections. (ex. Home, Sales Training, Customer Service Training, etc.)

When you create a section for each, create a "wysiwyg" field for both "Main Content" and the "Sidebar".

Then generate the code to add both into your site pages.

Does this make sense? Let me know if you need more details or have any other questions.

Is there a tutorial online somewhere?

Hi Ross,

Then go through and create one record in that section for each page you want to update.

What do I set the "Field Type" as for each of the pages?

Hi

I think we've confused ourselves :).

You create one section called Single Pages and setup three fields in it:

Page Title (textfield)
Main Content (textbox or wysiwyg)
Sidebar Content (textbox or wysiwyg)

You then create a record (ie: click the Create button) for each page of your site. This step doesn't involve creating a new field so there is no field type. You click Create and fill out the three fields that are there.

Does that make more sense? Let me know :).
