Creating Category Menus

I think I am missing something - and could use a little prod in the right direction. Been using CMS Builder for some time now - but have a project that is a little different and would benefit from a less linear approach. I could really use a category structure. Been into it a bit, and kind of see how it works - but can't get rolling. I need a primer of sorts.

To be clear - I'm looking to move from a site with about 5-10 main pages to a site with 5 main sections, and 5-20 pages within each section such as this:

Section A
- section listing 1
- page 1
- page 2
- page 3

Section B
- section listing 1
- page 1
- page 2
- page 3
- section listing 2
- page 1
- page 2
- page 3

Section C
- section listing 1
- page 1
- page 2
- page 3

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jeff

Thanks for posting!

What you'll want to do is check out this forum thread:

It has a bunch of details on setting up categories. Give that a read through and see where that gets you.

Thanks!

Hi Ross-

Well, I've had some time to read through this, and it doesn't appear to address what I am looking for.

That link shows a pretty linear approach... (think that is the right word)...

What I am looking for is being able to create three main sections of a site.
Within each section would be multi-record editors.

Like, for a school, for example:

District Level
High School
Junior High
Elementary

Within District, have:
- Board meeting schedules

- Board minutes from meetings

- Agendas

- Policies

- Forms
-- Forms for students
---Medical
---free lunch
---Sports

--Forms for teachers
---application
---vacation requests
---physical forms
---W4 forms

Is there a good way I can put these into sections like this, with the sub categories being able to house multiple records?

Thanks!

Hi Ross-

Thanks, once again, for posting and trying to help me out!

I'm still not clear on one part of this:

I have sub-sections that need to be multiple record editors. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff

Yes. You setup one section for the category menu and then another section for the "articles" in each category.

In the "articles" section, you'll have a drop down with all your categories so you can choose which one it's in.

At the end of the day, you'll be able to have multiple lists on your site even though it's only two different sections.

Let me know what you think :).
