Multiple clubs listing

Hi again,

..I have a couple of questions which are probably very simple - just wanted to double check before I dive in!

Firstly, my client wants to have a page which lists all the clubs they have in the UK broken down into counties and towns. They've supplied this as an excel file. They want to be able to easily add/delete clubs with the CMS. I wondered also whether we could use a search box here too? What's the best approach?

Second question, on the home page they want to have a few 'news snippets' from the current news stories page, with a 'more' link to jump to the relevant story - is there an easy way to achieve this?

Thanks for your help,

Jim

Hi Jim,

The first step is always to create html mockups of all the pages that look exactly how you want them to look.

Next, you could definitely use CMSB to power the clubs. You'd probably want a pulldown or additional section for counties and towns, then specify a country and town for each club. Then you could use the search features to list all the clubs in a particular town.

As far as the excel file, you'd need to manually enter those the first time or have a custom script made to import it if that needs to be done regularly.

For the news snippets on the home page, just mock it up as above. Basically you can tell it to limit to only the first 3 news articles and only get the first bit of text with a PHP function. If you have a mockup I can help with that. Or if you know the requirement (eg: i want to show the first 20 words of the description, etc).

Hope that helps!

Hi Jimbly!

Actually, we'd need to see -your- example! :) A mockup would be the design of your site, with "dummy" text in place of where the real code would be. Once you've got the mockup created so we can see exactly how the site is going to be created, it becomes a lot easier to show you exactly how to integrate CMS Builder. :)
