How to make article number to display as a 3 digit number

To conform to Google News standards, how can I get the article numbers from 1-99 display as a 3 digit number like this - 001 to 099? When the articles reach 100, I will not need the 00 do show. Google news requires that the URL for each article must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits.
Currently, the articles began as "1"

Hi drewh01,
If you install the free MySQL Console plugin you can update your table so all new record numbers start at 100.
