Wish List Items: Field Masking & View without Mod

As the use of this excellent product expands, I keep running into new "would be nice..." items. Here are latest:
1 - Field Masking: I have several clients asking that field content in the backend could be displayed in a specific way. Applies mostly to text field items. Example: Push alphas to upper/lowercase, display to X decimal places, date display of only a Month name, or add spaces between X number of characters (ie.: N0N 1P0 or 1234 1234 1234 1234).
2 - Sometimes clients want to open a view of a given record without running the possibility of accidentally editing/changing any values. Or they don't want to affect the "Last Modified" date just by looking at the record details.
Might be nice to have a 'VIEW' option alongside the "Modify" link in the list views.

Another ideas...
allow inline editing from the editor list page.
like this (click in the notepad with pencil in the table):

Have comment inside a field... like in this form:

This can be useful allowing tips inside, like "write phone with country code". When user clic inside the field, the tip disapear and field becomes blank for editing.
