Hi All,
I’ve got a couple of questions regarding date fields.
1) Is there a way to not require the time values to be filled in for a date field where “user specifies time” is checked? I have a situation where sometimes the time is necessary but sometimes it’s not, and at present, if a date field is filled in, the time value is not optional.
2) Is there a way to make the value for the “year” in a date field default to the current year. That way there would be one less pull down menu value that always needs be filled in?
Thanks as always,
Jerry Kornbluth

Hi Jerry,
There's currently no way to make the time components of a date field optional if the date field is "user specifies time". I wonder if you could get away with defaulting to 12:00:00 AM or some such "meaningless" time?
You can accomplish quite a lot of interesting date/time defaults by using the Default Value = "Specify custom date" option. Try this:
An alternative might be to uncheck "user specifies time" and use a separate "text" field for the time.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Chris,
I'll give it a try
They would be nice options though.

I'm with Jerry on this one. The date/time field could be dressed up a bit with some options.
I've run into this issue in a few shapes over time. Would love to be able to mask the date field in the Admin area, or feed data into that field from a public form without requiring extra handlers for the time or just the seconds.
