Hi Guys.

A clients site has been running just fine, then, the host has made some changes to the server. The site was still working fine until I tried to make some change. I am now getting the following error.

Warning: require_once(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/virtual/web/w0706/html/cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (VIRTUAL_DOCUMENT_ROOT:/smhhome/chroot_bind/php/php5/usr/local/lib/php/:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/ph:/home/chroot_lib/phplib/:/usr/local/bin/) in /smhhome/6-web/60/da/womenspace.org.au/public/www/web/blogItem.php on line 30 Warning: require_once(/var/virtual/web/w0706/html/cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /smhhome/6-web/60/da/womenspace.org.au/public/www/web/blogItem.php on line 30 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/var/virtual/web/w0706/html/cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php' (include_path='/smhhome/6-web/60/da/womenspace.org.au/public/www/cmsAdmin:/smhhome/6-web/60/da/womenspace.org.au/public/www/cmsAdmin/3rdParty:.:/usr/share/php5:/smhhome/chroot_bind/php/php5/usr/local/lib/php/') in /smhhome/6-web/60/da/womenspace.org.au/public/www/web/blogItem.php on line 30

The file is attached, and the other thing I changed was to simply add another field to line 170... (<?php echo $blogRecord['summary'] ?>)... should not have done anything.

I expect that the server has change the mySQL settings etc have changed with it (as they have changed my FTP settings), but I cannot confirm as the support line is closed for the night ... can you confirm that?
Cheers,

Tim (toledoh.com.au)

Hi Tim,

Try removing all these lines:

require_once "/var/virtual/web/w0706/html/cmsAdmin/lib/viewer_functions.php";

Let me know if that works for you.

Sorry Dave - my mistake. There were a few instances of that code, and I only removed 1. Working now. Ta!

Re: [Dave] New Error

FYI to the Interactive Tools folks. I was hosting a CMS Builder site on Hostmonster and suddenly it stopped working one day, years after installation (ie. no one had done any admin work for a long time).

The error message I was getting was
Warning: require_once(/home2/bridget4/public_html/writetruth/idara/lib/viewer_functions.php)
[function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in
/home3/bridget4/public_html/writetruth/index.php on line 2

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required
'/home2/bridget4/public_html/writetruth/idara/lib/viewer_functions.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/lib64/php:/usr/lib/php') in /home3/bridget4/public_html/writetruth/index.php
on line 2

On looking at the paths in directories, I realized that Hostmonster had changed the name of '/home2/bridget4/' to '/home3/bridget4/".

Once I went through all my viewers and changed the second line from home2 to home3, it all just started working again.

Re: [nigelparry.net] New Error

Hi Nigel,

Yep, that's exactly what you should expect to happen. A lot of programs (including CMS Builder, not to mention all of our legacy programs) use your server path to determine where files are located -- your host should have let you know before changing your paths so that you could update your site accordingly *before* everything broke!

Glad to hear you got that figured out, let us know if there are any residual errors you can't track down!
