is a plugin for newsletter signup in the works?

Dave and IT Team,
Is there anything in the works for a newsletter signup plugin? I know one can be built but as usual, I'd prefer one built by you guys instead of me!
It would be cool and very helpful...especially if it had a
1) double optin function so when an email address is submitted and email is autosent to confirm subscription by the actual email address
2) maybe a captcha type function for personal security
3) maybe a plugin interface page that asks some of the basic questions and fills in the code automatically, like mail server address, email address to send site email from, etc.

Hi equinox69,
We don't have anything in the works as of yet, but those are some great ideas! I've added them to our plugin ideas list. I can see something like this generating a lot of interest.
