For security reasons, I would like to make the authors and editors unable to delete articles. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Hi,

Yes, you can prevent any articles from being deleted.

Here are the steps:
1. Go to Admin > Section Editors and click modify for your articles section
2. On the top tabs, click "Advanced".
3. Check the checkbox for Disable Erase - Don't allow removing records.

And that's it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Is there away to disable "Modify" as well? What I am trying to do is have a public username and public password so visitors to our site can add listings. I already set an admin field of Hidden and a defauls of 1 so when any public user adds a listings it will not be public untill aproved by an editor. But since "ALL" public users will use the same loging, I don't want them to be able to erase or modify. In fact, best would be if they should not see the listings at all.

Hi,

Yes, if you modify a section editor, and click on the "Advanced" tab you can disable:
-Add
-View
-Modify
-Erase

So you can control exactly what can and cannot be done in a section.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You're using an old version of CMS Builder. The ability to disable the Modify functionality wasn't added until a later version.

To get this, you can upgrade your copy of CMS Builder by going here:

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

This is exactly what we wanted! It took 5 minutes to download the update and upgrade. What we do is we have a public username and password (the public username and password is displayed on the site):
http://www.koshertravelinfo.com/minyan/submit_minyan.php

We have an admin only field called hidden with a default of 1. Now when any public user adds a listing, it will not go live untill apprvoed my an admin (actually the process is by chaning the created by field to an admin). Our main concern was a public user erasing or modifying another listing submited by another public user. This works great!
