Hi everyone,

I've been working on the add-ons section of our website and we've just unveiled a feature that allows users to upload their own plugins & add-ons. If you have any add-ons to post, please login and submit them here:

Also, if you have any feedback about this new feature, please let us know!
All the best,
Chris

Hello All,

I've uploaded a couple simple plugins already:
http://www.interactivetools.com/add-ons/?user_submitted=1

Require HTTPS - Only allow users to login to the CMS via secure HTTPS connections.

Modify Header Links - Examples of how to add, modify, or remove links from the CMS header (Logoff, Help, License, etc).

And I'll try to upload more soon...

HI Guys.

Would it be possible to have an RSS feed or something for the plugins so we can get notified of newly added plugins or updates?
Cheers,

Tim (toledoh.com.au)

Hi Tim,

That's a good idea, I'll add it to the dev plan.

Thanks :)

Hi everyone,

We now have an RSS feed for new and updated Add-ons!

There's a link at the bottom of http://www.interactivetools.com/add-ons/, or you can go directly to http://www.interactivetools.com/add-ons/rss.php

Cheers!
All the best,
Chris

Is there a tutorial on making add-ons or a thread I could read to learn more about making add-ons? I've got some ideas I'd like to build a few for.

Hi Zick

Thanks for posting!

There isn't really any documentation on the plugins as of yet as the process is still rather dynamic.

The best thing to do would be pick a plugin that's similar to one already developed and use that as a guide. This is exactly how I started with the plugins :).

If you want, you can email me (consulting@interactivetools.com) with your ideas and we can tell you which plugins would make good examples. Or we could develop the plugins for you :).

How does that sound? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I'm looking at your user submitted add-ons page and the thing I see missing is a way to monitize it for the users.

I think you'd get a lot more people willing to share their projects (or even start projects) if they knew there was an avenue for them to recoup their cost of development.

If you don't want people mad at Interactive Tools because they're unhappy with add-ons you didn't make, just create a seperate store with it's own unique domain strictly for the third party developers. Then charge a percentage for managing the store (like Apple and Google do with their phones) and pay the developers via PayPal.

Just a thought
