OK. This may seem obvious, but, if I want a contractor to belong to more than one category, do I make several category fields, like category1, category2, etc. and use the same list, and then just take care of getting the contractors on the right page by writing an IF statement to catch any category they may be in?

Well, and then I was just asked what if a contractor does everything? Is there a way to provide a list for my customer so that they can just highlight the categories instead of setting up a new field (category1, category2, etc.)?

Hi,
The easiest solution would be to make your list field a multi-value field. That way they can select more than one category if required.
Hope this helps
