mySQL Password Update

We need to change the password for the mySQL database on one of our sites. It looks like we should just need to change the value in the settings.dat.php file, but when we switched everything over the site and admin pages generated a "This service is unavailable." error message. Is this an issue on the server end or is there something we're missing in the CMS Builder files? The server is running IIS.

For now we switched back to the old password, but any insight you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

After you change your MySQL users password for the database in your hosting control panel (or phpMyAdmin), then you change the users password in the settings.dat.php file.

With some hosts, there may be a brief delay after changing a the password while the system updates.

Is this the steps you went through?

Yes, this is what we did, although our IT department changed the password directly on the server. We did try restarting, but that didn't do the trick.

Thanks for confirming that it's just the settings.dat.php file that needs to be updated Ð sounds like something went wrong on the server end.
