user accounts and category editors

Hello all,
I'm trying to set up specific access levels in the "user accounts" section of my site. Thing is, I've noticed that in all the category editors the only choices I have are "none" and "Editor"; that is, I can't see any "Author" or "Viewer" choices in the pulldown.
edit: I'm using the "by section" setting.

Hi Ian,
Currently, category sections can only have either none or editor access. The reason for this is in a category menu, records can be dependent on each other. To have "author" level permissions would mean that you would not be able to add children to categories that you didn't create.
If you need to be able to have categories that some users can edit and others can't, you could create multiple category sections an only grant access to certain users.
