Thought it best to do a quick intro as I have feeling I will be popping in and out of here frequently. I currently look after a couple of web sites for a good friend. One to cover his excessive snake collection www.genetic-gems.com and the other that advertises his business building housing units for snakes and reptiles. www.pro-racks.com . Both these sites I have hashed together with code snippets from here and there, a bit of luck and no amount of reading and tinkering.I have no formal training in any of the dark arts - HTML, PHP or similar. What I have learnt is through experience and experimentation. At first they where both very simple with one or two pages but are now growing at an alarming rate which has led me to investigate an easier way of loading and cataloging all the information required. At present I am manually creating thumbnails, uploading, linking and then adding the lightbox function, not a great chore on a single page with one or two images but we are now in a situatation where there is a good chance of us having a 100 or so pictures to show this year and next year 5x that amount. This has led me to CMS Builder, I looked at a few open source packages and a few paid ones but as my MSQL experience is running at 0% at present and the promise of "the best supported software" offered by CMSB, seems to be a no-brainer.

Anyhow, be prepared for some foolish questions, and hopefully after some experience, some input.[crazy]

Hi Rewrmr,

Echo on the welcome from Jason.

Over the past few years I've developed a cookbook style coding resource for developing functionality using CMS Builder that you may find interesting.

You can check it out at http://www.thecmsbcookbook.com

CMS Builder is indeed an awesome combination of affordable, world class software and equally world class support.

Happy web developing,

Good luck Rewmer.

Once you've installed CMSB, follow the first set of recipes "INTRODUCTION", "WHAT IS CMS BUILDER AND HOW DOES IT WORK?", "SOME TERMS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW (AND SOME THAT YOU KNOW ALREADY)", "CMSB SECURITY AND ACCESS CONTROL", and "WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO BEGIN USING CMSB", and you should begin getting ahead of the game.
