Is there a way to select an image from a local server directory rather than from my local computer?

I had a client inquire about this as they would like to upload a directory of images that they can reference when on a computer that does not have these images.

thx.

Hi,

The file browser console used by the upload field has access to all the drives that the computer has. If you map the server to that computer as a network drive you can upload those files to CMS Builder from the local computer. If this isn't possible, but you have a URL to the image, you can use that as well.

Hope this helps

so, my client cannot simply pick an image from the /upload directory that lives on the server?

Is he referencing this just to have access to the images or is he going to be pulling them into CMS Builder?

If it's just to have access to them, I would setup a FTP with that directory so he can login to it.

If its for CMS to import, you can map a network drive if your hosting the server... if you using a 3rd party hosting like godaddy then the FTP is pretty much how your going to have access to them.

Unless I am not understanding you right :) Which happens.

He just wanted to have the ability to click something like, "Browser images on server" (for instance, the /upload directory) and insert an image that way. I have seen other CMS systems offer this and I am sure he is thinking the same as well. I'll see what I can work around for him. thx

Gotcha. That would be a ? for the devs. Only thing to semi get around it would be to google "map FTP network drive". Bunch of articles on how to do that.

Still a few steps more but at least it's a workaround.

Best of luck!

yeah, he won't be interested in that option. Thanks though.
