Re: [gversion] Cookies!

By robin - May 22, 2012

Hi Greg

The *__PHPSESSID cookie is to track user login sessions. It stores a php session identifier on the client computer like looks like "keqhjuu6jj614de7prrp2ucg13"

It's created when a user tries to use the CMS Builder admin. It's also created on any page that includes the CMS Builder viewer functions if the Website Membership plugin is installed.

For sites using our Simple Cart product for e-commerce, another cookie "preLoginTempId" is used. This is to preserve user cart information if they haven't logged in yet.

Hope that helps,
Robin

Hi Robin,

That's really useful to know, thanks for info.

Can you tell me which file(s) create(s) the *__PHPSESSID cookie?

Regards,
Greg

Hi Robin,

Am I right in thinking that the cookie is created on Line 377 in the file cmsadmin\lib\init.php?

Thank you,
Greg

Hi Greg,

I also sought a solution. You can perhaps look with this script:

It is true that the subject is extreme! :/

Hi,

In fact, if the cookies is not persistent, that should not be a problem.
But, it would be interesting if the administrator could adjust the lifetime of cookies directly in cmsB.

Thanks!

Djulia

Hi Greg,

This sounds looks an issue that will affect many CMSB users and that may spread to other countries.

It would be great if you could post your complete solution, along with any implementation/coding suggestions for implementing it on CMSB sites.

Thanks,

Jerry Kornbluth
