Modding Save & Copy function

Is it possible to adjust the way that the Save & Copy button works so that the new record is inserted into the list view immediately after the parent record? This assumes that we're using dragSortOrder.
Alternatively, could a 'Duplicate Here' version of the 'Create Record Here' function be easily made?

I did a little research. What we could do would be to customize the save and copy plugin javascript to set a value for the drag sort order in the edit form, relative to the original.
I would take a bit of work and a lot of testing, but shouldn't be too difficult.
