getRecords - specify columns

Hi all,

Is there any prebuilt function in getRecords which allows us to specify what columns are called?

By default getRecords returns * - we have a few statements which would run alot quicker if we could specify the specific columns we were after, so wondering if this functionality exists already anyhow?
