Uploads - How to stop changing case

Hi there, when we upload files, the file names are converted to lowercase. How do we turn this off? Many thanks, Jan

Because we are using this particular cms as a file repository and images get exported out to separate ecommerce stores where all the skus and image references are in upper case. This means we either have convert our ecommerce stores over to lowercase or manually rename every image.

Hi,
Just a guess at an approach.
In the file lib/upload_functions.php there are 5 instances of strtolower that change case to all lower case. One has the note: // file names are saved in lower case for better cross platform compatibility
Make a backup of the file and then see if you can remove some or all of them without breaking things.

What Jerry is outlining should do the trick. Definitely keep backups like he suggested. One thing I wanted to add in is that if you are going to make changes to files in the /lib folder, keep in mind that it can make support on your site down the road more challenging. Also, the next time you upgrade, the changes you make will be overwritten :).
