Problems with latest windows update

Is anyone experiencing problems with cmsB and the latest Windows 8 update (Sorry I don't have any specific info about the update - it is on a clients machine and I have been trying to diagnose the problem over the phone) . The cms index page loads but clicking on any menu item results in a spinning wheel. This is happening in Chrome and IE

The cms works on all mac browsers and on a windows machine that hasn't been updated.

I use mac, but i have a pc laptop running windows 8.1, just checked one of my installations and there is no problems with cmsb via the latest i.e and chrome. I suspect there may be something wrong with the machine, are they having any difficulties with any other websites or the website itself or is it just when they log in to cmsb admin?

Just cmsAdmin. The actual website is fine. As a test I also tried to login to another cmsB install from their machine - It has the same problem. I think you are probably correct and that it is problem with the machine.

I'm not sure how to deal with that. Their IT guy says that the machine is fine and is blaming the website. In the meantime the client is getting frustrated with both of us. Happy days :)

Hi Jeff, 

I'm not aware of any issues with the latest Windows update (I'm running Windows 8.1) and haven't heard of any reported.

I'd check if they've installed or updated any new antivirus software on the machine recently, or if the network has had any new filters updated.   Also find out what error the browser returns when you let it timeout.  I'm wondering if they have a new proxy server or something between the user and the internet.  Some questions to ask are if they are having the issue on any other machines in the office, or any other websites from that PC.  They could have even been infected with a virus or malware which is causing the issue, but it's odd it would be for one site only.  

Then get the exact URLs they are trying to access and try it from: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/  You can use this website to demonstrate that a website works for everyone else on the internet.

Finally, you can instruct them to install http://www.teamviewer.com/ or https://www.copilot.com/ to get remote access and experiment.  TeamViewer is free for personal use (if you're not charging them for support) and pretty easy to instruct clients to install over the phone (and then access).
