PDFCreator 1.04 and BlueHost shared hosting?

By gkornbluth - April 13, 2014 - edited: April 13, 2014

Hi All,

Just curious...

Has anyone been able to get the PDF Creator 1.04 plugin to work on Bluehost shared hosting?

With 1.04, I get the following error:

error while loading shared libraries: libfontconfig.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

Although version 1.03 works perfectly.

Also, it seems that the libfontconfig.so.1 library is not installed by default, and they say it is unlikely that they will install it on their shared hosting servers any time soon.

Thanks,

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried contacting your hosting company to see if they'll install the library on the server?

Cheers,

Hi Jerry,

CreatePDf uses a linux binary program called wkhtmltopdf and requires a number of default linux libraries that are usually installed, but sometimes not.

Your options would be ask the host about better plans (virtual private hosting, managed hosting, etc) that might support it, or to set up a proxy server on a server you control such as pdf.yourWebAgency.com and use the proxying features to send all PDF requests through there.

Hope that helps!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for weighing in.

Any real downside to using 1.03?

Seems to work with that one.

Hi Jerry, If a previous version works then yes I'd try that.

It would be because it's a previous version of wkhtmltopdf I imagine.

Can you let me know if it does work?

Thanks!

HI Dave,

1.03 seems to work fine, so I think I'll stick with that.

Best,
