Very Worrying Upload Issue

Hello, All -
There seems to be a problem uploading anything to my CMSB site. In this particular instance the problem concerns pictures but I think it will extend to everything.
At the end of the upload process in the Upload Details modal window, there is an error message in red stating: Please select a file to upload.
This seems at odds with the fact that there is an image uploaded and visible in the preview window.
I then hit save.
At this point I receive another error mssage: saveUploadDetails: No upload num specified!
It isn't possible to close the modal window so I'm forced to back-up to the first window, mentioned above, using the browser.
I have created several different Upload fields on several different editors and each is functioning in the way decribed above.
I have a feeling the uploads table has somehow become corrupted.

Update:
I've just had a look at the cms_uploads table in phpMyAdmin. Currently there are 2995 images listed.
From this point on, whenever I try to upload another image the file num is being set as 0.
This happens to all subsequent uploads.

Update 2:
Panic over. The cms_uploads table was indeed corrupt. I had neglected to set the primary key and auto_increment on the num column!
Parp!
