Double quotes in upload file name on the Mac?

Hi All,

My clients are (old)  Mac users.

They just tried to upload some images that had double quotes in their file names and the upload dialog reported that the file name extension was not allowed.

Removing the double quote in the file name solved the problem.

Since the double quote is apparently not illegal on a mac, ( they are on  a PC), is there a way of  using preg_replace to grab illegal characters (and replace them with legal ones) in the image file names before they hit the uploader (2.63, flash uploader active)?

Or is there something else going on here?

Thanks,

Jerry Kornbluth

Hi Jerry,

What was the specific filename?  If you had something like "mypicture.jpg" or mypicture."jpg" we wouldn't be able to get the .jpg off the end.

Let me know some more details and I'll check it out.  Thanks!

Thanks for looking at this Dave,

The file names would have been something like myphoto-January-1014-12"x24".jpg, where the " represents inches

(If we would just switch to the metric system the problem would be solved once and for all...)

Best,

Hi Dave,

Thanks for sticking with this.

No I can't because I'm on a PC and I can't enter double quotes as a part of a file name.

I've emailed you account info so that you can try the issue on the site in question.

Thanks again,

Jerry
