permalink use on test site

Hi all,
I am in the process of rebuilding a large site in a test site location which is nothing to do with the domain it will be published to once the site goes live and replaces the old site.
The old site uses permalinks and I will also use the plugin on the new site. Is there any reason why we cannot install and configure the permalinks on the test site or will it all go wrong when we ultimately transfer the site to the live location.

Hi willydoit,
If the URL paths are the same it shouldn't be a problem. The hostname isn't stored by permalinks, just the url path.
And if your dev site has a prefix in the path such as "/~clientname/" you can set that under: Admin > General > Website Prefix URL (optional)

sorry for the delay in responding, thaks for the input it has been helpful will set up the permalinks now.
