Re: [mbc01] CMS Builder with Windows hosting package

Hi there!

Yep, CMS Builder works fine on both Windows & Linux -- in fact, we do our development in Windows... :)

The only catch with Windows accounts is that permissions *can* be a little bit twitchy, since they're not changed via FTP like Linux servers. 9 times out of 10, the default permissions are just fine, but that 10th instance can be a bit more annoying. That said, you'll either have a control panel where you can change permissions, or your hosting provider can do it for you, so it's generally not TOO much extra trouble. :)

Hi mbc01,

We actually develop CMS Builder on Windows so it definitely runs on that platform.

The only extra things you need to do on windows is make sure that CMS Builder can read and write to it's data files. Sometimes your host will have set this up already, sometimes you need to ask them, and sometimes they'll have a control panel or way you can do it yourself.

When you install CMS Builder it will do some tests and give you an error message if it can't write to a needed file. So the best course of action is to just install it and then let it tell you if there are any changes required.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any more help! :)
