Re: [pothompson] Disable Edit (per user)

I'm not sure that I understand completely, but in the user account section (I'm looking at version 1.27) take a look at setting the All Sections pull down menu to "By Section" and then choosing the "Author" restriction for the specific section that you want to restrict "Author" only access to.

The user will only be able to access those records that they authored.

See if that helps...

Re: [gkornbluth] Disable Edit (per user)

This doesn't help I'm afraid. As far as I can see, this just restricts the person from viewing the record which does in turn stop them from editting it, but I would like them to be able to view records, just not edit them (in the same way as you can control whether they delete them or not).

How come you're advertising a different product in your signature, isn't the whole idea of a forum to freely discuss ideas and solution? I would have thought advertising should take place somewhere else.

Thanks.

sorry that I wasn't able to help.

If I can think of something else, I'll pass it on.

Best of luck,

Hi pothompson,

There's no functionality in the CMS to allow users to view but not modify records. You could create some viewers for that. What kind of site are you building?
