Wrong Flash file appearing

Hi, there.

I have a weird anomaly that is occurring in Internet Explorer, but I'm not sure if it's a CMSB issue or not.

I've used CMSB to upload a Flash banner ad - http://www.yallaf1.com/_ad_home.php - and it displays perfectly in Firefox and Safari. However, in IE a completely different Flash swf file shows up. The "incorrect" swf file was uploaded using FTP, not CMSB, and is stored in a different directory on the server.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Cheers,

Hi Nigel.

Thanks for posting!

My first thought here is browser cache. Can you make sure you clear your cache in IE and then try again?

CMS Builder will display the same code for each page regardless of what browser you are using. Technically, CMS Builder doesn't actually know what browser you are using. All of its work is done before the browsers are involved.

Of course, after you clear your cache, perhaps check the source code to see if it's actually different in each browser.

Keep me up to date :).

Re: [ross] Wrong Flash file appearing

Hi, Ross.

Clearing the cache hasn't made a difference, I'm afraid.

It's actually started happening on every page where a swf banner ad has been uploaded, even when there are supposed to be different ads appearing.

When I view the source code for this (go to http://www.yallaf1.com/_ad_home.php in IE, right-click, then choose "View source") it's showing the correct Flash file name:

<embed src="/cmsAdmin/uploads/WILLIAMSADVERT8-ng.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="468" height="60">.

However, what is actually being displayed is:

<embed src="gn_swf/GN24062/GN24062.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="800" height="560">

This is clearly an IE anomaly. It doesn't happen in Firefox or Safari.
