Re: [awilds] Help Getting Started With CMS

Hi Aaron,

You can generate pages similar to the templates of our older software with CMS Builder's Code Generator. Start out by creating a section, adding/removing fields, then use the Code Generator to create a page for your section. Experiment with this a bit and it'll all make sense. :)

There are two approaches you can take when building CMS Builder-driven content: start with a Code Generator page and flesh it out into a full web page; OR start with a fully-mocked up page and insert PHP into it, using a Code Generator page as a reference.

For both of your requirements, I'll be able to help you a lot better if you can mock up the pages to show me what exactly will be required. Additionally, you'll be able to insert the relevant PHP (I'll help with this) into your mock-ups and they'll become your dynamic pages!

Please attach examples of your picture gallery page (with working lightbox javascript,) and your specials and promotions page(s).

P.S. If you want, you can use CMS Builder's automatic thumbnail generation to save your client even more time.
All the best,
Chris

Chris thank you so much for your reply...

The actual website I'm working on is here:
www.birdwellelectric.com

the portfolio page and the stone gallery page are the ones the client will need to update with new pictures and a brief description.

down at the bottom of the homepage in the lower right hand corner you will see the reference and link to the specials and promotions page. This will also need to be updated by my client from the back end.

as far as the light box I'm using I have all the files etc..you can see it in action on my website here:

http://www.interdezign.com/print_folio.htm

if you view the source code you will see how it works...and the .js files it uses.

ON a totally different but related note. I'm using a free .js file for the drop down form on the this site as well you can see it in action by clicking on the "free estimate" button at the top...if you know someone familiar with javascript..I can't get the form to process or even allow the submit button to work....I think there will need to be some programming changes made but I'm not familiar enough with javascript to do it..I will pay for this to be done of course.
