I am a user of the old products...I have a website all designed and I'm trying to figure out how to get started with CMS.

I want to ad:

1. a picture gallery where the person can click on the photo to enlarge it...preferably with a lightbox java script I have.
My client will need to be able to log in and modify this page..being able to upload new pictures and delete old ones..I want it to be easy for him to upload both the smaller thumbnail and the larger one that will be shown when clicked.

2. I have a specials page...where the site owner can log in and update the page with any specials and promotions..
the site is layed so that at the bottom there is a small area that displays this months special with a button to click to learn more..I will need to incorporate that feature as well.

I need some direction, the old products came with templates and I just modified the code and pasted into my website framework...modifying the fields etc. was easy and each template had a specific purpose for example real estate listings and so on....

Thanks for your help.

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

You can generate pages similar to the templates of our older software with CMS Builder's Code Generator. Start out by creating a section, adding/removing fields, then use the Code Generator to create a page for your section. Experiment with this a bit and it'll all make sense. :)

There are two approaches you can take when building CMS Builder-driven content: start with a Code Generator page and flesh it out into a full web page; OR start with a fully-mocked up page and insert PHP into it, using a Code Generator page as a reference.

For both of your requirements, I'll be able to help you a lot better if you can mock up the pages to show me what exactly will be required. Additionally, you'll be able to insert the relevant PHP (I'll help with this) into your mock-ups and they'll become your dynamic pages!

Please attach examples of your picture gallery page (with working lightbox javascript,) and your specials and promotions page(s).

P.S. If you want, you can use CMS Builder's automatic thumbnail generation to save your client even more time.
All the best,
Chris
